About Our Director

Nicole Melki dreamed of starting Ubuntu Music Project since the age of 15. Playing the violin was a beacon of hope for Nicole, and it is her greatest desire to bring that others. Nicole has an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Southern Nazarene University and a Masters in Social Justice from Southern Methodist University. She was the recipient of the B'Nai B'rith Award in Scholarly Competence and Personal Commitment to Social Ethics, and the Karis Stahl Fadely Award for her work in inter-cultural settings. For more than 15 years Nicole has led clinics, taught private lessons, and worked with at-risk students in Oklahoma City, Frisco, Fort Worth, McKinney, and Denton ISD's. Nicole has also traveled across the United States performing with The Tulsa Symphony, Northwest Arkansas Symphony, Fort Smith Symphony, Abilene Symphony, Lawton Philharmonic, and many others. Nicole believes everyone deserves the opportunity to make beautiful music, and it is her greatest desire to create that through the Ubuntu Music Project!
